Mitchell staggered out of the cave mouth into the forest’s green half light, into the scent of damp moss, the distant hammer of a woodpecker. Rand let the blade he was honing ease to his knee, the familiar weight like the support of an old friend. ‘What did the oracle say?’
‘That there’s a rainbow in the smoke,’ said Mitchell, taking up his own sword, buckling the worn leather belt.
‘What does that mean?’ said Rand, just as the scent of burning stung his senses. Somewhere a tree cracked and crashed to the forest floor. It was going to be another interesting day.

Such 360 sense depth, go back and read and it’s all the sight, sounds, tactile, images! Love it. Sounds like an interesting day. Carry me into mine.

Ah, thanks Bill! I’ve not long read a British grim dark novel by Joe Abercrombie – think GoT but with even more grime and grit under the nails. I think he must have inspired me as I write that. Thank you again 🙂

That reads like a snippet from a novel. Maybe you should write it 🙂

Maybe one day, a venture into fantasy would be fun. My problem is, I quite fancy a go at several genres – not a popular way to go with publishers! Thanks for taking the time to read, Jane 🙂

It could be one of those ‘defies definition’ novels. Except it has to be the publisher who says that, not you 🙂

Those oracles never do just come out and explain things, do they? That’s a great attitude for adventurers, which I’m hoping these two are — that all this adds up to another “interesting” day. 🙂

Thanks, Joy. Yep, the darn oracles can never tell you ‘be careful of a bloke called Nigel – six four, ginger hair – cos he’s got a knife hidden in his boot. Oh, and by the way, don’t eat the fish at the restaurant tonight. Not so good.’ And adventurers they are. Likely lads up for the most interesting of days 🙂

Now that’s what I would call a useful divination! Lucky they’re adventurers and are ready to roll with the punches.
