Apology

Just a note to apologise for my absence. I’ve managed to post a little over the last few weeks, but increased working hours and impending move mean what spare time I have is taken up with hassling solicitors, packing mugs, unpacking mugs because I’ve packed them too early, taming my garden and generally wondering how we’re going to get everything done before the removal men turn up on our doorstep.

I haven’t been replying to your kind comments, or reading other blogs either, something I always feel awful about with such good blogging pals.

After the move my internet access will be non-existent for a couple of weeks too, so apologies to all, bear with me and I hope to be back properly when this insanity is over.

  1. And yet you’re still able to post more stories than I am — my goodness, you are so productive, Lynn! Well, concentrate on what needs doing, and do as much of the rest as you can. At least reading other people’s blogs go faster when it’s flash fiction. 🙂

    1. Very true – it’s easier to keep track with fellow bloggers who write short form. I’m losing ground with long form bloggers, sadly. A few weeks and it will all settle down, hopefully. Thanks Joy 🙂

      1. I’m having the same problem. Several of my regular blogs have been posting long stories or articles every day or almost every day, and I just can’t keep up. Ironic, that I read *less* of them because they are so frequent, whereas if they posted once or twice a week, I might read every post.

      2. Absolutely! I do think about that when I post so regularly myself – am I overloading followers? However, the stats are better when I post often. Though – apart from Devil – my posts are usually no more than 200 words long and I never post more than twice in a day. I’ve seen a few bloggers (one in particular) who will post up to ten times a day! Well, that’s just crazy. You’ll drive followers mad doing that. It’s engagement I’m missing at the moment, not being able to read and comment on other blogs as I was doing.

I’ve been noticing that engagement issue myself in recent busy months, that I enjoy reading and commenting, and of course, replying to comments on my own posts, but boy, it takes so much more time than I’d realized When I’m so busy, that becomes a disincentive to writing a flash fiction piece, sadly, the obligation to read and comment on at least “many” others’ stories or feel guilty and left out.

      4. Yes, it’s a toughy isn’t it? I can usually find enough time to post myself. I struggle to find time some weeks to reply. So reading other blogs? Nigh on impossible at the moment. Especially if I want to sneak in some ‘proper’ writing too.

  4. Everybody has times like this. You’re doing better than I am at keeping up with the blog stuff. I don’t think I’ve posted anything in a couple weeks. Sometimes life happens.

      1. Take courage, sister. I will pray for your safe journey through the darkness. May your soul not be corrupted by foul feature wallpaper, particularly flock. Flock wallpaper is the work of the Devil. If I don’t hear from you within three weeks I shall take up my sword and shield, and battle my way through the demons of Ikea. Do not fear; I shall rescue you be you in the depths of the warehouse, picking up kitchen units and a useful set of flatpack shelves. Until then adieu. God speed brave soldier of fortune 🙂

      3. One last thing – avert your eyes from the big red poppies. It… (sniff) happened to a neighbour… (sniff) red everywhere… all over the kitchen, splashed up the sitting room walls… her daughter found her… I heard the screams… we had to put up bars. Sometimes when I pass her window I hear her screaming for a toaster with a poppy design… 🙂

      6. Ha! Yes, those long words are a killer! I’m feeling okay so far as overdosing is concerned. I have a writing project to work on at the moment (possible paid work!) so that’s keeping me nicely distracted. Hope you’re well Jane 🙂
